How long should a battery last in my watch?

  • How long should a battery last in my watch?

  • Great Question!  Depending on the watch design, mechanics, and brand you can get anywhere from 2 to 5 years out of a brand new Excellent rated Battery.  Batteries are usually inscribed on the battery during installation by the watch service tech, so next time you get it replaced you will know how long it lasted.  It is important to make sure you take it to a professional Watch repair department where they can install the battery and replace any seals or pressurize it if needed.   Mulloys takes the steps of not only evaluating the battery we remove to rule out any mechanical problems with the watch or terminals before we install a new battery.   We also make sure the new battery is performing top notch by keeping our battery inventory current and up to date and assessing your new battery before installing it into your watch.  We will also set your watch and test it before you leave. We recommend doing this anywhere you take your watch.    Because every minute counts here is a tip to maintain a long battery life - If you aren't wearing a battery operated watch for a period of time you can extend the battery life by extending/pulling our your setting crown to the furthest position and this will disengage the battery usage and reduce any battery draw from the watch. (make sure to keep your watches in a dry location when doing this).    Keep your watch questions coming!
